Traditionally, August is the warmest month of the season with sunny skies and settled weather; the best time to plan a mountain adventure. All hiking trails are open and as a result, you'll have some company in the back country, but that is a good thing. Hiking with other folks or in groups is advisable in August when the berries ripen and the bears are enjoying the harvest, fattening up for the coming winter.
The clear August days are also the photographer's dream. If you are hoping to spot wildlife, be on the road in the early morning, as most animals disappear into the cool of the forest to escape the heat of the day and the noise of traffic. But remember, don't feed them! Want to come stay with us to rest after you hike? Be sure to check out our August Web Only Special! Comments are closed.
