Early Transition - Exciting Employment
We recognize that spectacular surroundings, great hiking opportunities and sightseeing are not enough on their own when living in a remote location. Consequently, our HR Manager is charged with organizing activities for all, including excursions to Lake Louise and Banff, group hikes, horseback rides, heli-sightseeing opportunities, and even time for a visit to the Calgary Stampede in order to provide a lifestyle balance. Employee Housing
Accomodations
Accommodations at The Crossing range from individual cabins to shared “lodge” accommodation. All accommodations are furnished and include your bedding, linens, blankets, pillows, towels, etc. Lodge accommodation is dorm style, with no more than two persons to a room and a shared washroom. Every room has a maximum of two beds and includes tables and chairs, dressers, closets and satellite TV.
Amenities
The staff accommodation boasts a comfortably furnished recreation room complete with a large screen TV, DVD player, 2 X-box 360 gaming stations with flat LCD screens, 3 computer stations with free internet access, various board games, books and magazines. Free WIFI is also available.
We offer free trail maps and guides for the top 14 hikes in Banff National Park; all trailheads are within 30 minutes of The Crossing.

Meals
The meals are prepared in the same kitchen that caters to our guests. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the staff dining room in the main lodge. In addition to your “all you can eat 3 squares a day” you will always find a sandwich table, soup, salads, fresh fruit, cereals, milk, juice, coffee and tea. Oh yeah! And the staff BBQs!
Compensation
Wages are commensurate with experience. Regular performance evaluations provide the opportunity for increased compensation, advancement and nomination for “Employee of the Month”. Every month the winner receives a $400.00 prepaid Visa Card and awards are also provided for runners up. Shifts are 7.3 hours a day, 6 days a week. Employees receive a 20% discount at all Crossing venues.
Employment Opportunities
RetailThe General Store is a large retail shop that sells gifts, pictorials, jewellery, clothing, hiking equipment, groceries, confections and more. Duties include pricing, labelling, stocking shelves, cashier, serving customers and general store duties.
Service StationThis is a high volume station dispensing gasoline, diesel, propane and other vehicle operating products. Positions include assistant manager, cashiers and service attendants. Duties are related to automotive service, customer service and general cleaning.

MotelOur motel has 66 units, either King or Double Queen units, all with fridges, television, coffee makers and tasteful amenities. Positions include assistant manager, administration, front desk & reservations, housekeeping and laundry attendants.

Food and Beverage
This department consists of 5 separate food and beverage outlets in a fast paced environment. Food and Beverage is the largest employer at The Crossing and provides great opportunities for advancement.
The Crossing Kitchen
The Crossing Kitchen is the heart of our food service operation, receiving, preparing, cooking and presenting all food items for all outlets, including the café, The Mount Wilson Restaurant, the Parkway Pub and the “circus line” as well as our staff dining room. Duties in this area include food preparation, cooking, cleaning and dishwashing. Positions include sous-chef, line cooks, prep cooks and dishwashers. This department offers great opportunities for advancement and our Chef is most welcoming to those looking to advance their culinary careers.

CafeDuties in this 125 seat self-serve restaurant include the re-stocking of food and product lines, taking and delivering orders, cashier, bussing tables and general restaurant duties. Keeping the food display cases organized, attractive and clean is of paramount importance.

Parkway PubThe Parkway Pub is a unique combination of beverage and food service. The primary function involves liquor, beer and wine sales; bartending, serving, food service, some food preparation skills and other general restaurant duties are required.

Mt. Wilson Restaurant: Tour OperationsThis 300 seat restaurant offers an extended hot & cold lunch and dinner buffet catering mainly to pre-reserved motor coach tour groups. Two to three sittings at the luncheon buffet are usual and can result in 400+ lunches daily requiring a fast paced, organized environment. Duties include hosting, greeting/seating groups and individuals, beverage service, cashier, bussing and resetting tables as well as general restaurant duties.

Wilson Restaurant: Breakfast & DinnerIn addition to the luncheon and dinner buffets, The Mount Wilson Restaurant offers a full service a la carte menu for both breakfast and dinner, with full table service, largely for our overnight guests but walk-ins are welcome. Duties include hosting, seating, waiting on tables, bartending, bussing, setting tables and general restaurant duties.
